Dear Friends of Colwick Woods
It is with sad regret that 2 formally elected members of the FoCW Committee have had to take hostile action.
Namely on Monday the 3rd February myself (former Secretary) & Vanessa (the former remaining Vice-Chair), prevented the meeting carrying on, informing those present that the Committee was no longer fit for purpose, & calling for a Special General meeting to be held on Monday 2nd March, 7.30pm at BANCA (Bakersfield and Neighbourhood Community Association, 312 Sneinton Dale) for the members to decide the future of the Group, as per Article 12 of FoCW Constitution. This was accepted by the majority of members who attended the AGM.
The reason for this unprecedented action was because of the acrimonious feelings within the Group. Our Treasurer, Membership Secretary & 2nd Vice Chair having resigned before the AGM, which is well within their rights. Informal ‘talks’ have failed & nasty, hostile e-mails have been passed between Committee members, which has only caused more ill feeling (and is still doing so)
As Nottingham City Council are the Landowners, allowing FoCW use of their land & listening to the Group, when we have expressed concerns about proposed development of the Woods & the area surrounding it, I have informed the Ward Councillors that we felt we had no option but to take this action.
So now it is down to the life blood of the Group, you the Members to decide what is to happen.
The proposals are
- Complete Dissolution of the Group (Article 12 of the Constitution) & assets donated to like-minded groups or charities.
- The members elect a new committee & the Constitution be re-written (assuming any members are willing to stand)
Vanessa Osborne (former Vice Chair FoCW)
Glynda Preston (former secretary FoCW)
Note any messages can be left for the Group at BANCA or e-mailed to myself at email@example.com
